Intro

Connection is a way of life.

Itā€™s my life philosophy.

Itā€™s your beautiful and exciting lifelong journey that can help you feel happier through:

  • mental

  • physical

  • and spiritual

balance, in every area of your life.

It is your journey towards your personal revolution.

It helps you bring out the best in you, from within, in the everyday life.

It's a beautiful way of life, sculpted over the decades by my background and it's constantly evolving, as life itself.

So, I thought: what if other people could also benefit from it?

And I decided to look for you, my like-minded people, who can appreciate and cherish this message.

Welcome!

Ciao! Welcome!

Thank you for choosing to spend your time with me!

I donā€™t give it for granted: itā€™s the most precious thing we all have in this world.

Letā€™s use time as wisely as we can.

So, if you are curios about Connection and what I mean by that, this is for you.

In fact, I wanted to write this to:

  • explain to you the idea behind what I call Connection,

  • give you enough context about my background,

  • and the intentions I have with my content.

So if youā€™re still here.. Good, prepare a cup of tea or coffee or set yourself with whatever you love best.

Take this time for you.

Alright? Letā€™s go!

Nice to e-meet you!

So, who am I?

I'm Alice, nice to e-meet you!

I grew up in a Buddhist family, in Italy, and this unique background has shaped my perspective on things, especially on the topic of personal growth.

Even though I'm Italian, I decided to speak in English to reach as many people in the world as the Internet will allow me to.

I studied film and visual arts in high school and university.

On top of it, I've always had this urge to connect with nature and this has guided me throughout my entire life.

Iā€™m not your guru

Before I continue, I want to tell you an important thing right away.

And I want to be abundantly clear about this:

Iā€™m on your same path.

Meaning: I'm not a guru, Iā€™m not a psychologist, or anything else. [- and Iā€™d like to want this to count as a legal note -]

So, Iā€™m not here to convince anybody to:

ā€œfollow me, because ā€˜Iā€™m supposed to have all the answersā€™ā€.

No! Nobody does.

And thatā€™s the beauty of it all!

Iā€™m a work in progress, and forever will be.

Iā€™m just here to let you know that I am a person, like you, with dreams and flaws.

I just want to share my experience with you, and while Iā€™m doing so, I wish to improve in many aspects of my life.

Basically, Iā€™m just hoping that, in sharing my journey - towards Connection - with you, I could give you some value and grow together.

In fact, my intention is to share with you useful lessons that I learnt over the years, and also some glimpses of my lifeā€™s journey.

As in yoga, it's not the asana - i.e. the pose - that's important, but the journey one makes and chooses to make, towards the position.

So, now that this has been established, I can begin to tell you my story.

The first moment I felt Connected

When I was a child, I had a profound experience with nature, which led me to the concept of - what I now describe with the word - 'Connection'.

It was the first time I felt Connected, and - at the time - I felt like if a message was reaching my heart, my mind, and my whole being.

I still didn't have a word to translate the feeling I experienced yet, so I still didnā€™t say the word 'Connection' at the time.

The experience seemed so familiar to me, because I instinctively felt that it was closer to the meaning of 'existing'.

So, I tried to convey the feeling in different ways, thinking that this would be a natural process for people to live.

I thought that everyone had had that kind of experience.

I was wrong.

In fact, as time went by, I realized that it was not an experience as shareable and popular as I thought.

So, I started thinking:

'Oh! Maybe I had a nice special moment'ā€¦

My unique mixed background

Growing up, I gradually stopped sharing this deep part of me.

To protect myself.

And this is important to say because, spiritually talking, I've always felt a bit like an outsider.

Different.

Picture this:

  • it was the nineties, in Italy

  • and bullying was just another name for school:

    • if you didnā€™t fit in, it was dangerous for you.

    • In some places still is.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has felt that way.

I think you can relate to this.

Maybe for something else, like:

  • physical appearances,

  • different kind of disabilities,

  • or just insecurities.

Everyone knows the feeling.

You want to be accepted.

And what do you do?

You start to turn off your light.

Why?

To fit in.

And what did I do?

I did dimmer this light, and I kept it safe inside.

Buddhism and all the eastern philosophies are cooler now.

Itā€™s like a fashion thing.

But back then it was nowhere near as fashionable as it is today.

You have to understand that for me it was my culture, it was me, I lived it every day.

It is who I am.

Itā€™s not a cute quote that you put on a shirt, or that you retweet and then forget about it the next day.

It was my life.

Buddhist culture was my life.

However, I lived in Italy, where the culture was and is definitely different.

Not worst, just different.

With time, I developed this unique mix between eastern and western culture in me.

Buddhism and my parents taught me a lot in both difficult and happy times.

Teaching me to be present in happy moments, to cherish and to live them.

I then use those moments as lights to guide me when itā€™s dark inside, and -sometimes- outside.

Yes, because when we suffer, we turn down the light.

The very same light that we need when we have to fight for our happiness.

And sometimes we need to dimmer that light.

To rest.

Maybe to mourn.

Maybe to learn.

But most of the time, we actually need to learn how to switch our lights back on.

All the teachings I have followed and studied in life help me to be happier, and to feel more connected, to switch that light back on.

And thanks to this background, I conceived my concept of Connection in a certain way.

As an adult, I clearly understood that ā€˜what makes you different, makes you also specialā€™.

So, now I can see how itā€™s quite a unique perspective on things.

And now I feel that itā€™s a great moment to share.

Some important contextual note you may find useful

Just a few important notes that give you some context about the way I conceived this Connection concept.

Growing up, I translated the experience I wrote you before into what I thought was the best Italian word that could describe the feeling.

The word was: Connessione.

Which I then translated into English into the word Connection.

I do hope this is the most accurate term to convey this wonderful message.

Another important personal note is that:

  • When I say Connection I refer to its holistic meaning.

You'll better understand why in the next 'chapter', when I explain more about the experience I'm referring to.

Also, I often say 'Connect with' and not 'Connect to' because 'to' for me describes us as separate to the other ā€˜entityā€™, instead 'with' gives more interconnection, in a way. Thatā€™s how it comes to me, but I realise it might be an Italianisation. Just take it as it is.

What's Connection?

So, finally, What's this message about? What I mean when I say Connection?

As I mentioned earlier, the first time I recall feeling Connected happened when I was a child.

For me, it was a perfectly natural event.

Therefore, in my being there were no doubts, no questions.

Everything was clear, everything was simple.

And yet (!) so complex.

I felt the duality and simultaneity of these two realities:

the simplicity
and complexity
of existence,
coexisted

at the same time.

For me it was liberating to learn that I was Life itself.

I had the opportunity to deeply understood that:

  • There was no more Self

  • It felt so powerful AND neutral at the same time.

  • In that moment, I simply understood, I comprehended, I absorbed the whole concept of Connection.

  • This concept was simultaneously abstract and concrete;

  • complex, and yet so simple.

  • I was Everything, and I was Connected with everything.

My free-form poem to Connection

I wrote a free-form poem to Connection, which I hope you enjoy.

My free-form poem to Connection:

Connection is an instant, yet infinite.

Connection is something you reach, yet you already have.

Connection is something you feel, when you are open to experience it.

Connection is personal, unique, and different for every living being, yet the same.

Connection is abstract, and concrete.

Simple, yet complex.

You feel it, you see it when you deeply realize that

Nothing is by itself, and Everything is connected

...because it is.

So are you, as it is everything around and within you.

You are Connection. Connection is you.

I am you, and you are me.

We are everything, Everything is us.

Everything lives together,

Always existing at all time,

In an endless energy cycle.

We are that energy.

We are Connection.

- Alice Montorselli

I hope you enjoyed my free-form poem and that it sparked at least your curiosity.

Connection is our natural state

I feel like Connection is a natural way of being, if not the natural way of living.

I think that being connected is our natural state.

If youā€™re human you can feel it. Maybe also if youā€™re not human.

I also believe that Connection expands its horizons beyond the human frontier.

I believe itā€™s the essence of the universe.

Ciao, Mondo!

My Definition of Connection

By now, I think you can start to understand that it can be complicated to explain Connection in words.

It is an abstract concept that, by its very nature, becomes personal for everyone.

Nevertheless, here is one of my description of what I mean by Connection.

Connection is:

The instant of 'enlightenment'

that coexists with your way of living fully in the present

Basically, it is the result of:

  • a life lived fully in the present,

  • fused with moments of enlightenment.

Connection is that magic inside you and in your Life that makes you breathe and smile.

It's a way of being that transcends all of the things we invented.

Itā€™s that power we all have.

Regardless of religions, beliefs, interests and physical appearances.

It's something you experience, something you feel.

You donā€™t think it.

You feel it.

It's both a feeling and a lifestyle.

Connection is Your chosen journey

Living and breathing Connection is a lifelong journey.

Itā€™s something deeply rooted in your life.

Itā€™s rooted in your life, because it is as long as your lifetime, which.. is infinite.

Itā€™s Your Lifelong Journey.

No one here is forced to do anything.

It is a choice to live this way.

Itā€™s a journey that you choose.

No one else can choose it for you.

So, like everything in life, it depends on your priorities.

For example, itā€™s important for me to choose to train my connection.

I need to carve out my moments to feel it.

Bits here and there create your life.

The very beauty of this journey is that You choose and create your own path.

You are in control.

Why?

Because it's an energy flow that's within you and it guides you even in the darkest moments.

In fact, it is you yourselves that guide you towards Connection.

How?

By listening and connecting to your essence.

Connection is your journey.

3 Dimensions to Master

There are three main dimensions to mastering Connection:

  • Connection with yourself

  • Connection with others

  • Connection with the world.

Since these three dimensions are all connected to each other, when you connect to one of them, you also feel the other two.
Like a domino effect.

You can say you are connected when you are feeling all of them, all at ones.

It may be useful to divide them up in this way so that you can start working on each one, to unveil their essence individually.

What I would recommend is to start with connecting with yourself.

Once you understand yourself better, the other two spheres will be easier to tackle.

So, When you can balance your Connection with:

  • yourself,

  • the others,

  • and the world

You are Connected.

There you cultivate (your own) deep happiness.

Thereā€™s no judgement.

You feel light, happy and free.

You finally begin to live.

You have more confidence in yourself, the others and the world.

Thatā€™s because you feel part of everything.

You arenā€™t afraid, because you are others, others are you.

You are the world, the universe, and the universe is you.

You feel empowered by all of it.

You canā€™t be always on

Currently, I donā€™t think itā€™s possible to feel connected at all times.

And thatā€™s ok, because you really donā€™t need to.

Itā€™s like enlightenment: you canā€™t live enlightened at all times.

You just need some moments. They fuel you.

So that you can go into your day and sparkle all around your life.

With your

  • thoughts,

  • emotions,

  • and actions

you'll be able to uplift and elevate yourself and others - effortlessly.

Itā€™s simple, not easy

No matter your situation, the possibility to experience it itā€™s there.

Connection is not something out of the ordinary, quite the contrary!

You can experience it during a 'simple' sunset and/or sunrise at home.

And/or while youā€™re on an epic trip to Iceland.

And/or while you're at home cleaning dishes.

In itself, experiencing a moment of pure connection is simple, not 'complex', but sometimes it can be challenging to do it.

And, believe me, I really do know this.

When you discover your method, then it becomes easier.

Thatā€™s why itā€™s essential to spend time introspecting, listening to yourself, deeply.

This is what I mean when I say 'Connect with yourself'.

Itā€™s the first step to everything else, to find out what really helps you connect in general.

I want to remind you that ā€˜the methodā€™ can vary for each person.

You can begin from the small stuff.

I'll try to share some techniques that have helped me over the years, but you should remember that it's a combination of everything. It's not one thing or the other. It is one thing AND the other.

Everything is connected.

As me and you.

I want to Connect with You!

The first time it happen, as you can imagine, I found myself wondering ā€œWhat did I experienced? Will I ever be able to feel it again?ā€

The answers are:

  • for the latter ā€œWill I ever be able to feel it again?ā€ is: ā€œYes, absolutely.ā€

Although, I have to admit, not as profoundly as when I was a child.ā€

Now I seek it without pushing it.

    Sometimes I find it again...And sometimes I don't.

I realize that when I notice it, it recharges me so much.

  • and for the first one, ā€œWhat did I experienced?ā€: Iā€™m still looking for the answer.

This unknown is positive.

It helps to wonder in awe and get lost in this feeling, in the best way possible.

As human beings, we need the unknown, believe it or not, we need it to feel alive and with a purpose. Of course, too much of the unknown scare us and confuse us, so we need to work to keep balance in our life.

So Iā€™m here to talk to You, that I feel are brave enough to listen and maybe apply one or two things that Iā€™ll share with you.

I want to use the power of internet and social media to connect with you, and attract my like-minded people.

I imagine you like this:

  • you can appreciate depth,

  • youā€™re a spiritual attuned person,

  • you are curious about life,

  • you have an artistic soul,

  • you want to live happier,

  • you enjoy personal growth techniques,

  • and - in my mind - youā€™d like to feel more connected

This is by no means an exhaustive list, but I want to attract likeminded people.

I can see you.

I know you are there, somewhere around the globe living your life, looking for something like this to feel happier and express your full potential - which you know you have, deep inside - but, maybe, you are afraid of it. Like I was...

I know you are out somewhere!

My heroes, my Connected people.

I want to reach to You.

I want to Connect with you!

Maybe you simply want to follow the progress of my journey.

You have your own unique and personal perspective, which I would greatly appreciate, if you feel like share it.

I care about this message and I want to fell in your right hands. I know youā€™ll respect it, and treat it right. Youā€™ll take it, make it yours, and youā€™ll evolve on this path called life. Weā€™ll do it together.

My content for you

So, I want to talk about connection, I want to spread this message with your help.

At the same time, I know that:

The focus of my content may change over time as I evolve as well.

Thatā€™s because my main goal is to grow and share whatā€™s helping me, because you might appreciate it as well.

So, for the time being, I seek an answer to this question and I ask it to you as well:

How can we activate - or reactivate - our naturalness in life and therefore be and feel more connected and happier?

One way I use to find answers is to observe teachers: both the human ones and the supreme teacher of all, (our) nature.

So, for now, Iā€™d like my content to be just as I am:

A human being with dreams, flows, and struggles to overcome.

This is just me being me.

Deep and superficial.

Iā€™m everything, happy to be so.

I want my content to reflect me, and to be a safe space for me and for anyone who wants to join.

There are so many ways that have helped me, relieved my stress, opened me up to connection and made me overall happier.

I want to share some of these methods:

many of them are well known, others less so.

I'd also like to document and share small glimpses of my life, as it comes, free from constraints.

I will try to keep it meaningful, but I also want to be able to explore with videos.

Iā€™m still a filmmaker, and my desire to experiment doesnā€™t expire.

So don't be surprised if you see the most diverse things.

I might show you some trips I have taken in the past, vlog-style. In a very simple, unpretentious way.

I want also to be able to pivot and change what Iā€™m talking about.

Iā€™ve many different interests.

So, who knows what else I will develop... Iā€™ll find out in time, as I produce this content.

Like everything in life, it will develop as I evolve as a person.

In short, Iā€™d just like to share my experiences, hoping to help someone else to evolve as I do as well.

To think to expose myself scare me at times, but I think there are other likeminded people out there, eager to feel connected, and share silly moments together.

It terrifies me much much more to not try to meet all of you.

Iā€™ve put off the start of my journey for so long, out of fear of my own inner judgement.

The moment I faced my personal judgements I started to accept myself, slowly and deeply. I gave myself permission, and the freedom to be who I am as I am.

At that point, it was much easier to choose to share with you this part of me.

Conclusion

I want to remind you that Iā€™m here just to suggest, maybe to guide you a bit, and empowering you, surely to grow with you along the way.

You will find your unique way to do things.

Take from my experience and improve it, pivot it, expand it with many different things that sparks joy in you.

Iā€™m here doing exactly the same.

Iā€™m taking what Iā€™ve been taught and expanding it, bringing it to you. As best as I can.

Of course - as I told you in the beginning - all of this is just my life theory, my life philosophy, my thoughts, ideas...

Everything I tell you is based on my personal experience. It is not proven by any scientific research.

I feel we can also be here to improve through communication, and connection between one another.

Well, maybe if one counts Buddhism's thousands of years of development.

Perhaps we could count those years...

Nevertheless, Iā€™m not here to teach Buddhism, Iā€™m here to embark a journey with you.

In my own experience, I believe thereā€™s no ā€œperfect and onlyā€ way to connect.

Since everyone of us is unique, so it will be what we like, and what it will help us feel more connected, and happier.

I often think that:

Connection = Cauldron

Meaning: You can reach Connection thanks to a Cauldron of different methods.

In fact, to experience it we can tap into a mishmash of techniques to help us feel happier.

All approaches, all paths, all techniques are welcome, regardless of their cultural roots, as long as it helps to be happier, and more connected.

As long as itā€™s done with sincerity towards yourself and your own deep happiness you should test it.

As I said, being connected is independent of religions, beliefs, interests, or the way we look... and I like that very much! It's something that can unite us all, instead of divide us, like too many things already are (dividing us).

I like to think of us human as a species, with different stories that can help everyone grow and evolve, if only we would listen to one another. United by differences, united by unique stories.

So, I invite you to share your unique point of view, as it helps everyone of us to evolve, and grow as a human species.

You are important.

Every one of us are.

It goes without saying that to help each other feel more connected, one must first help oneself, which means working on one's own difficulties.

For instance, I have and want to work on some roadblocks, maybe Iā€™ll make a video about it, maybe I will not. I donā€™t know yet.

I donā€™t know where all this will take me.

I still don't know all the technical and life skills Iā€™ll need to acquire for this journey.

But I am certain of one thing:

This is just the beginning.

Thank you so much for your precious time.

Iā€™ll see you in the next video.

Ciao for now.
